The year was 1920. Arthur
Pitney -- inventor of the postage meter joined forces with industrialist
Walter Bowes to form Pitney Bowes Inc. Together, they introduced the world's
first postage meter in Stamford, Connecticut.
Three years later -- in 1923 -- the Canadian Post Office gave its approval
for the postage meter and Pitney Bowes established a Canadian subsidiary
in Ottawa. Pitney Bowes Canada was formed.
